I thought it was yours, David. I know I owe you some mail, big time. April is the cruellest month for teachers. But I promise something good, very good, will come your way when I see myself clear. I laughed and laughed when I read your card and looked at the picture.

Normally, I don’t use unaltered images but this painting was so droll it stands on its own. I couldn’t think of who to send it to but then I thought as a teacher you’d probably be familiar with La Chanson de Roland as I was not. Found an old Penguin edition translated by Dorothy Sayers and did as much reading as my ADD would allow.

I am indeed familiar with The Song of Roland. And I did get a kick out of this, especially the part about the beaver tail trees. When I read that I looked back at the picture and had a good laugh!
